The Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association ended the 2009 season with a record of 23 wins and 11 losses, finishing first in the WNBA's Western Conference. The team compiled a postseason mark of 7-4.

The Mercury topped the league with 3,156 points. Phoenix allowed 3,031 points, most in the circuit. Cappie Pondexter tossed in a team-best 648 points for the squad, and Diana Taurasi scored 15 or more per game, too. DeWanna Bonner accounted for 196 boards. Cappie Pondexter doled out 171 assists for the team.

On the defensive side of the ball, Diana Taurasi added 36 steals, while Tangela Smith blocked 57 shots.

Corey Gaines coached the team. The 2009 Phoenix Mercury won the Championship of the playoffs.
