On June 9th, 1971 the original grandstand burnt to the ground. The complete rebuilding process wasn't done until 1973, but play continued during that time with temporary bleachers set up for the fans. The community showed their dedication to having professional baseball in their city by spending countless volunteer hours putting the stadium back in order. The stadium was renovated in 2005.
