The stadium opened October, 1962, with a grass playing field. Astro-turf was installed in 1995 and Field Turf in 2004. The park is home to the Santurce Cangrejeros of the Puerto Rican Winter League. Texas & Toronto played an AL game, April 1,2001. The Montreal NL team played 22 games here in 2004. The field is named for the first Puerto Rican to play in the Major Leagues.
