Donovan Field

Also Known As: Savin Rock Park 1919-1920; Weiss Park 1921-1930
Location: New Haven, CT
Oak Street, near Savin Avenue, bordering on the West River.
Capacity: 4,000 (1919); 7,700 (1931)
The park was reoriented in 1931. The catcher originally faced NE, the grandstand was rebuilt in the NE corner of the plot. The Donovan Field grandstand was much larger, and extended well down the RF foul line. Bleachers extended down the LF foul line to the edge of Marsh Street (non-extant), which now ran along LF. The catcher faced SW. Captain Thomas Boulevard runs through the area today in West Haven, CT.
