The field is located just north of the burned-out grandstand of Central City Park. It was built for $60,000. Renovations in 1956 included replacing the wooden bleachers with steel, and moving the light poles beyond the outfield. The original distances were so deep that only 11 homers were hit in the first 20 years; the distances were reduced in 1949.
