Buffalo Stadium, which opened in April 11, 1928, was originally a pitcher's park. A SE wind blew in from RF. The catcher faced NE. A 1950 map shows the park in a largely industrial and commercial area. The park was enclosed by a wood fence, but in the outfield, an iron fence ran behind the wood fence. The grandstand was steel frame with concrete seat banks. There were bleacher sections along both foul lines; the RF bleachers extended to the fence. The clubhouse was in foul ground in LF. A furniture center now sits on the site, but a plaque marks home plate. Named after the Buffalo Bayou, which cuts Houston in half.
