The Harrisburg Heat of the National Professional Soccer League ended the 1997-98 season with a record of 21 wins and 19 losses in the NPSL's Eastern Division. The team compiled a postseason mark of 2-3.
The Heat chalked up 265 goals and conceded 267. David Bascome scored 41 goals for Harrisburg, while Bill Becher, Richard Chinapoo, Willy Giummarra, Mark Pulisic, Jim Hesch and Larry Julius each netted fifteen or more as well. Jim Hesch recorded 44 assists. John Kluba topped the squad with 10 wins. Doug Petras recorded a 6.14 goals against average, leading goalkeepers with enough qualifying appearances.
