Denis Cyr scored 70 goals for Montreal, while Francois Lecompte, Denis Savard, Alain Bouchard, Mike Krushelnyski, Constant Priondolo and Jean-Pierre Dubois each tallied 30 or more as well. Denis Savard contributed 118 assists. Patrice Pare earned 30 wins in front of the net for the squad and a team-best 5.24 goals against average, topping goaltenders with enough qualifying appearances.

Ron Lapointe coached the team. The 1979-80 Montreal Juniors lost in the in 2nd Round of the playoffs.
