The Swallows scored 493 runs and conceded 548 runs. Takahiro Ikeyama led Yakult with 18 home runs Atsuya Furuta drove in 63 runs. Mitsuru Manaka, Atsuya Furuta and Takahiro Ikeyama paced all regular batters by hitting .275. Kenjiro Kawasaki topped the team with 17 wins, while Tomohito Ito recorded a 2.73 ERA, best among regularly-used pitchers.

Kazuhisa Ishii, Lyle Mouton, Travis Driskill, Akinori Iwamura, Mark Acre, Shingo Takatsu, Dwayne Hosey and Eric Anthony were all players from the 1998 Yakult Swallows who played in the Majors during their careers.

Katsuya Nomura served as manager.
