The Swallows plated 557 runs, worst in the circuit, and surrendered 604 runs. Robert Marcano paced Yakult with 25 home runs, while Yukio Yaegashi, Tsutomu Wakamatsu, Katsuo Osugi and Susumu Watanabe each walloped 15 or more also. Robert Marcano accounted for 78 RBI. Tsutomu Wakamatsu topped all regular batters by hitting .337. Kenichi Kajima led the team with 14 wins and a team-best 3.22 earned run average, leading regular hurlers.

Dan Briggs played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Yakult Swallows to do so.

Shiro Takegami served as manager.
