The Yomiuri Giants of the Japan Central League ended the 2009 season with a record of 89 wins and 46 losses, finishing first in the JPCL.

The Giants led the league with 650 runs, fueled by 182 home runs. Yomiuri surrendered 493 runs, least in the league. Shinnosuke Abe walloped 32 home runs for the squad, while Alex Ramírez, Yoshiyuki Kamei, Seung Yuop Lee, Michihiro Ogasawara and Hayato Sakamoto each swatted 15 or more also. Michihiro Ogasawara recorded 107 runs batted in. Alex Ramírez paced all qualifying hitters on the roster by hitting .322. Dicky Gonzalez topped the team with 15 wins and a team-best 2.11 earned run average, best among hurlers with significant time on the mound.

Hisanori Takahashi, Edgardo Alfonzo, Micheal Nakamura, Alex Ramírez, Dicky Gonzalez, Marc Kroon and Seth Greisinger were all players from the 2009 Yomiuri Giants who played in the Majors during their careers.
