The Yomiuri Giants of the Japan Central League ended the 2005 season with a record of 62 wins and 80 losses, finishing fifth in the JPCL.

The Giants plated 617 runs and conceded 737 runs. Hiroki Kokubo walloped 34 home runs for Yomiuri, while Kazuhiro Kiyohara, Shinnosuke Abe, Yoshinobu Takahashi, Tomohiro Nioka, Takayuki Shimizu and Karl Rhodes each swatted 15 or more also. Hiroki Kokubo drove in 87 runs. Tomohiro Nioka paced batters with significant playing time by hitting .301. Kimiyasu Kudo topped the squad with 11 wins, and Koji Uehara recorded a 3.32 ERA, leading pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
