The Vancouver Canadians of the Pacific Coast League ended the 1979 season with a record of 79 wins and 68 losses, finishing first in the league's North Division.

The Canadians plated 637 runs and allowed 592 runs. Craig Ryan paced Vancouver with 16 home runs and drove in 81 runs. Lenn Sakata led all regular hitters by connecting at a .300 clip. Mark Bomback topped the squad with 22 wins, while Rickey Keeton, too added 15 or more wins, too Mark Bomback recorded a 2.56 ERA, leading regular hurlers.
