The Whales plated 518 runs and allowed 470 runs. Motoyasu Kuroki paced Taiyo with 25 home runs, while Mike Krsnich and Takeshi Kuwata walloped 15 or more, too. Takeshi Kuwata accounted for 75 RBI. Kazuhiko Kondo topped hitters with significant playing time with a .308 average. Shigeyuki Takahashi led the squad with 21 wins and a team-best 2.4 ERA, leading pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.

Mike Krsnich played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Taiyo Whales to do so.

Osamu Mihara served as manager.
