The Whales scored 290 runs, worst in the league, and conceded 578 runs, most in the circuit. Noboru Aota led Taiyo with 17 home runs and drove in 54 runs, while leading all qualifying hitters on the roster with a .268 average. Takashi Eda topped the squad with 10 wins and a team-best 2.99 ERA, best among regular hurlers. Isamu Fujii served as manager.
