The Taiyo Whales of the Japan Central League ended the 1951 season with a record of 40 wins and 64 losses, finishing sixth in the JPCL.
The Whales scored 502 runs and allowed 620 runs, most in the circuit. Kiyoshi Sugiura led Taiyo with 17 home runs, and Isamu Fujii walloped 15 or more, too. Tamaichi Yasui accounted for 65 RBI and topped hitters with significant playing time with a .321 average. Naoaki Hayashi paced the team with 16 wins and a team-best 3.01 earned run average, best among hurlers with significant time on the mound. Haruyasu Nakajima and Giichi Arima served as manager.
