The Unions scored 403 runs, worst in the league, and allowed 611 runs, most in the circuit. Akiro Kato drove in 42 runs. Shinya Sasaki led hitters with significant playing time by hitting .289. Shiro Ito topped the squad with 21 wins and a team-best 2 ERA, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances. Kazuo Kasahara served as manager.
