The Lions scored 450 runs, worst in the league, and surrendered 594 runs, most in the circuit. Masahiro Doi led Taiheiyo Club with 25 home runs, while In-cheon Paek, Masashi Takenouchi and Takuji Ota each walloped 15 or more as well. Masahiro Doi drove in 73 runs. Satoru Yoshioka paced all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .309 clip. Osamu Higashio topped the squad with 13 wins, and Masaaki Koga recorded a 3.09 ERA, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
