The San Antonio Missions of the Texas League ended the 1997 season with a record of 84 wins and 55 losses, finishing first in the league's West Division.

The Missions allowed 592 runs, least in the league. San Antonio plated 736 runs. J. P. Roberge paced the team with 17 home runs and drove in 105 runs. Paul Lo Duca led all regular hitters with a .327 average. Ignacio Flores topped the squad with 10 wins and a team-best 3.25 earned run average, tops among qualifying pitchers.

Mike Anderson, Howard Battle, Keith Johnson, Eric Weaver, Garey Ingram, Jeff Kubenka, Dennys Reyes, Will Brunson, Matt Herges, Rick Gorecki, Paul Lo Duca, Mike Judd, Alex Cora, Nate Bland, Ricky Stone, Jeff Williams and Pat Ahearne were all players from the 1997 San Antonio Missions who played in the Majors during their careers.
