The Seibu Lions of the Japan Pacific League ended the 1986 season with a record of 68 wins and 49 losses, finishing first in the JPPL.

The Lions led the circuit with 647 runs, ignited by 185 home runs. Seibu surrendered 514 runs, fewest in the league. Koji Akiyama walloped 41 home runs for the team, while Shinsaku Katahira, George Vukovich, Hiromichi Ishige and Kazuhiro Kiyohara each swatted 15 or more also. Koji Akiyama drove in 115 runs. Hiromichi Ishige paced all qualifying hitters on the roster with a .329 average. Hisanobu Watanabe topped the team with 16 wins and a team-best 2.87 ERA, leading regular hurlers.

George Vukovich played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Seibu Lions to do so.

Masahiko Mori served as manager.
