The Reno Silver Sox of the California League ended the 1971 season with a record of 64 wins and 75 losses, finishing seventh in the CL.

The Silver Sox scored 712 runs and surrendered 863 runs, most in the circuit. Alan Ashby and Bill Flowers led Reno with 18 home runs apiece., and Jeff Newman walloped 15 or more, too. Bill Flowers drove in 68 runs and topped batters with significant playing time by hitting .315. Bob Eldridge paced the squad with 11 wins, while John Howell recorded a 3.53 ERA, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.

Jim Kern, Larry Andersen, Alan Ashby, Dick Tidrow, Dennis Kinney, Bob Kaiser and Jeff Newman were all players from the 1971 Reno Silver Sox who played in the Majors during their careers.

Merrill May served as manager.
