The Quad Cities River Bandits of the Midwest League ended the 1996 season with a record of 70 wins and 61 losses, finishing first in the league's West Division.

The River Bandits tallied 629 runs and gave up 599 runs. Ryan Coe paced Quad Cities with 14 home runs Chad Alexander accounted for 69 RBI. Julio Lugo led all regular batters by hitting .295. Paul O'Malley and Brian Sikorski topped the squad with 11 wins each, while Brian Sikorski registered a 3.14 earned run average, leading pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.

Chris Truby, Ramón Castro, Sean Runyan, Carlos Hernández, Carlos Guillén, Julio Lugo, Brian Sikorski and Freddy García were all players from the 1996 Quad Cities River Bandits who played in the Majors during their careers.
