The Nankai Hawks of the Japan Pacific League ended the 1985 season with a record of 44 wins and 76 losses, finishing sixth in the JPPL.
The Hawks scored 603 runs, worst in the league, and allowed 740 runs, most in the circuit. Chris Nyman led Nankai with 26 home runs, while Jeff Doyle, Kazunori Yamamoto and Hiromitsu Kadota each walloped 15 or more, too. Chris Nyman drove in 78 runs and topped hitters with significant playing time with a .285 average. Kazuhiro Yamauchi paced the squad with 11 wins, and Shinichi Kato recorded a 4.09 ERA, best among regular hurlers.
