The Nippon Ham Fighters of the Japan Pacific League ended the 1982 season with a record of 67 wins and 52 losses, finishing first in the JPPL.
The Ham Fighters scored 551 runs and conceded 518 runs. Tony Solaita walloped 30 home runs for Nippon, while Tommy Cruz, Junichi Kashiwabara and Tatsuo Omiya each swatted 15 or more as well. Tony Solaita drove in 84 runs. Hideo Furuya led all regular hitters by connecting at a .291 clip. Mikio Kudo topped the squad with 20 wins, and Satoshi Takahashi earned a 1.84 ERA, best among regular hurlers.
