The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League ended the 2001 season with a record of 87 wins and 55 losses, finishing first in the league's North Division.

The Rock Cats topped the circuit with just 499 runs allowed. New Britain scored 620 runs. Michael Cuddyer walloped 30 home runs for the team, while Dustan Mohr and Michael Restovich swatted 15 or more, too. Dustan Mohr drove in 91 runs and topped batters with significant playing time with a .336 average. Juan Rincón led the team with 14 wins, and Brad Thomas recorded a 1.96 ERA, best among qualifying pitchers.
