The Mobile Bears of the Southern Association ended the 1958 season with a record of 84 wins and 68 losses, finishing second in the SA.

The Bears conceded 598 runs, the lowest total in the circuit. Mobile plated 677 runs. Jack Baumer paced the team with 22 home runs, while Bud Hutson and Don Dillard walloped 15 or more also. Jack Baumer drove in 88 runs. Don Dillard led all regular hitters with a .319 average. Jake Striker topped the squad with 17 wins, plus Don Schaeffer and Dick Stigman, too added 15 or more wins, too Dick Stigman recorded a 2.44 ERA, leading qualifying pitchers.

Wynn Hawkins, Stan Pawloski, Jake Striker, Don Dillard, Dick Stigman, Bill Dailey and Stan Pitula were all players from the 1958 Mobile Bears who played in the Majors during their careers.

Mel McGaha served as manager.
