The Lancaster Jethawks of the California League ended the 1997 season with a record of 75 wins and 66 losses, finishing second in the league's Valley Division.

The Jethawks scored 842 runs and surrendered 773 runs. Jim Clifford led Lancaster with 25 home runs, while Yuni Kim, Jason Regan and Miguel Correa each walloped 15 or more as well. Joe Mathis and Jim Clifford each recorded 82 runs batted in. Joe Mathis paced batters with significant playing time by connecting at a .283 clip. Aaron Scheffer topped the squad with 11 wins, and Dámaso Marte recorded a 4.14 ERA, best among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
