The Knoxville Smokies of the South Atlantic League ended the 1960 season with a record of 71 wins and 67 losses, finishing fourth in the SAL.
The Smokies paced the circuit with 718 runs, sparked by 96 home runs. Knoxville surrendered 633 runs. Purnal Goldy powered the team with 20 home runs, while Leo Smith walloped 15 or more as well. Leo Smith recorded 111 runs batted in. Purnal Goldy led all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .342 clip. Phillip Kliewer and Larry Foster topped the squad with 13 wins each, and Fred Gladding recorded a 2.43 ERA, leading qualifying pitchers.
