The Tigers plated 597 runs and conceded 508 runs. Tomoaki Kanemoto paced Hanshin with 26 home runs, while Takashi Toritani, Osamu Hamanaka, Andy Sheets and Akihiro Yano each walloped 15 or more, too. Tomoaki Kanemoto accounted for 98 RBI. Andy Sheets led hitters with significant playing time by hitting .310. Kei Igawa topped the team with 14 wins, and Shinobu Fukuhara registered a 2.1 earned run average, leading regularly-used pitchers.
