The Hanshin Tigers of the Japan Central League ended the 1976 season with a record of 72 wins and 45 losses, finishing second in the JPCL.
The Tigers led the league with just 500 runs allowed. Hanshin scored 602 runs. Hal Breeden walloped 40 home runs for the team, while Masayuki Kakefu, Mike Reinbach and Koichi Tabuchi each swatted 15 or more as well. Hal Breeden drove in 92 runs. Masayuki Kakefu paced all regular hitters by hitting .325. Takenori Emoto topped the team with 15 wins, and Kazuyuki Yamamoto earned a 2.94 ERA, best among hurlers with significant time on the mound.
Hal Breeden and Mike Reinbach both played in Major League Baseball during their careers.
