The Hanshin Tigers of the Japan Central League ended the 1973 season with a record of 64 wins and 59 losses, finishing second in the JPCL.
The Tigers led the league with just 404 runs allowed. Hanshin scored 433 runs. Koichi Tabuchi walloped 37 home runs for the team, and Taira Fujita added 15 or more, too. Koichi Tabuchi accounted for 90 RBI. Goro Toi topped all regular hitters by hitting .296. Yutaka Enatsu notched 24 wins on the mound for the team, while Jiro Ueda contributed 15 or more victories as well Jiro Ueda earned a 2.23 ERA, best among qualifying pitchers.
Willie Kirkland played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Hanshin Tigers to do so.
