The Hanshin Tigers of the Japan Central League ended the 1961 season with a record of 60 wins and 67 losses, finishing fourth in the JPCL.
The Tigers scored 405 runs and allowed 411 runs. Michael Solomko paced Hanshin with 21 home runs, while Hideshi Miyake walloped 15 or more also. Michael Solomko accounted for 70 RBI. Katsumi Fujimoto topped hitters with significant playing time by hitting .300. Minoru Murayama recorded 24 wins on the mound for the team, and Shozo Watanabe registered a 1.89 earned run average, tops among regular hurlers. Sadayoshi Fujimoto and Masayasu Kaneda served as manager.
