The High Desert Mavericks of the California League ended the 2005 season with a record of 75 wins and 65 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division.

The Mavericks plated 918 runs, tops in the circuit. High Desert gave up 899 runs, most in the league. Chris Lubanski paced the squad with 28 home runs, while Kila Ka'aihue, Billy Butler, Alan Moye, Adam Keim and Brandon Powell each walloped 15 or more as well. Chris Lubanski accounted for 116 RBI. Billy Butler led all qualifying hitters on the roster with a .348 average. John Gragg topped the squad with 13 wins and a team-best 4.37 ERA, leading hurlers with significant time on the mound.
