The Toyo Carp allowed 442 runs, least in the league. Hiroshima plated 447 runs. Rick Lancellotti paced the team with 19 home runs, and Takehiko Kobayakawa walloped 15 or more as well. Takehiko Kobayakawa recorded 69 runs batted in. Kozo Shoda led all regular batters by connecting at a .340 clip. Kazuhisa Kawaguchi and Yutaka Ono topped the squad with 13 wins each, while Yutaka Ono recorded a 1.7 ERA, leading regularly-used pitchers.
