The Greenville Spinners of the South Atlantic League ended the 1961 season with a record of 72 wins and 66 losses, finishing third in the SAL.

The Spinners scored 583 runs and allowed 591 runs. Dick Smith led Greenville with 19 home runs, and Mel Corbo walloped 15 or more as well. Dick Smith drove in 89 runs. Jose Cesar paced all regular batters by connecting at a .271 clip. Nick Willhite topped the team with 16 wins, while Melvin McGavock added 15 or more victories also Nick Willhite recorded a 1.8 ERA, best among qualifying pitchers.

Larry Miller, Dick Smith, Johnny Werhas, Bob Giallombardo, Nick Willhite, Joe Moeller and Roy Hartsfield were all players from the 1961 Greenville Spinners who played in the Majors during their careers.

Roy Hartsfield served as manager.
