The Fresno Grizzlies of the Pacific Coast League ended the 1998 season with a record of 81 wins and 62 losses, finishing first in the league's South Division of the Pacific Conference.

The Grizzlies scored 815 runs and allowed 692 runs. Armando Ríos paced Fresno with 26 home runs, while Jeff Ball, Jacob Cruz and Keith Williams each walloped 15 or more, too. Armando Ríos drove in 103 runs and topped all regular hitters by hitting .301. Joe Roa led the squad with 12 wins, and Chris Brock recorded a 3.29 ERA, tops among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
