The Edmonton Trappers of the Pacific Coast League ended the 1996 season with a record of 84 wins and 58 losses, finishing first in the league's North Division.

The Trappers paced the circuit with just 628 runs allowed. Edmonton scored 785 runs. Scott Spiezio powered the team with 20 home runs, while Brian Lesher walloped 15 or more, too. Scott Spiezio drove in 91 runs. Brian Lesher led all regular batters by connecting at a .287 clip. Bobby Chouinard and Willie Adams topped the squad with 10 wins each, and Aaron Small recorded a 4.3 ERA, tops among pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
