The Delmarva Shorebirds of the South Atlantic League ended the 2009 season with a record of 66 wins and 70 losses, finishing fifth in the league's Northern Division.

The Shorebirds plated 537 runs and surrendered 563 runs. Ronnie Welty paced Delmarva with 10 home runs and drove in 67 runs, while leading batters with significant playing time by connecting at a .290 clip. Ryan O'Shea and Oliver Drake topped the team with 8 wins each, and Cole McCurry recorded a 2.72 ERA, leading hurlers with significant time on the mound.

Xavier Avery, Luke Scott, Joe Mahoney, Kyle Hudson, Eddie Gamboa, Oliver Drake and L. J. Hoes were all players from the 2009 Delmarva Shorebirds who played in the Majors during their careers.
