The Dayton Dragons of the Midwest League ended the 2000 season with a record of 70 wins and 67 losses, finishing fourth in the league's East Division.

The Dragons scored 730 runs and yielded 716 runs. Austin Kearns led Dayton with 27 home runs, and Adam Dunn walloped 15 or more as well. Austin Kearns drove in 104 runs. Randy Stegall paced all qualifying hitters on the roster by hitting .309. Jose Acevedo and Travis Thompson topped the squad with 11 wins each, while Travis Thompson registered a 2.78 earned run average, best among regularly-used pitchers.

Bobby Madritsch, Vaughn Eshelman, Brian Reith, Ray Olmedo, Javier Martínez, Jose Acevedo, Adam Dunn, Mark Wohlers and Austin Kearns were all players from the 2000 Dayton Dragons who played in the Major Leagues during their careers.
