The Durham Bulls of the Carolina League ended the 1965 season with a record of 83 wins and 60 losses, finishing first in the league's West Division.

The Bulls tallied 629 runs and allowed 571 runs. Walt Matthews paced Durham with 18 home runs and drove in 93 runs. José Herrera led hitters with significant playing time with a .291 average. Marvin Dutt topped the team with 15 wins and a team-best 2.91 ERA, leading hurlers with significant time on the mound.

John Hoffman, Doug Rader, Steve Hertz, Conrad Cardinal, Jay Dahl, Jim Ray and José Herrera were all players from the 1965 Durham Bulls who played in the Majors during their careers.
