The Burlington Bees of the Midwest League ended the 1997 season with a record of 72 wins and 68 losses, finishing first in the league's West Division.

The Bees scored 785 runs, most in the league. Burlington gave up 709 runs. Darron Ingram paced the squad with 29 home runs, and Christian Rojas walloped 15 or more also. Darron Ingram drove in 97 runs. Brady Clark led all qualifying hitters on the roster by hitting .325. Jay Peterson topped the team with 14 wins, while Scott MacRae recorded a 3.82 ERA, tops among qualifying pitchers.
