The Birmingham Barons of the Southern Association ended the 1958 season with a record of 91 wins and 62 losses, finishing first in the SA.

The Barons scored 765 runs and conceded 668 runs. Lou Limmer walloped 30 home runs for Birmingham, while Bob Thorpe and Steve Demeter swatted 15 or more as well. Lou Limmer drove in 100 runs. Bob Thorpe led all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .324 clip. Bill Harrington topped the squad with 20 wins, and Joe Grzenda and Phil Regan added 15 or more victories also Bill Harrington registered a 2.99 earned run average, tops among regular hurlers.
