The Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League ended the 1962 season with a record of 70 wins and 70 losses, finishing fourth in the SAL.
The Tourists tallied 699 runs and allowed 680 runs. Duncan Campbell and Elmo Plaskett paced Asheville with 27 home runs apiece., and Gary Rushing walloped 15 or more, too. Elmo Plaskett drove in 96 runs and topped all regular batters by connecting at a .350 clip. Dick Lines led the team with 14 wins and a team-best 2.11 ERA, leading pitchers with enough qualifying appearances.
