The Canucks scored 251 goals, worst in the league and surrendered 253. Petri Skriko and Trevor Linden netted 30 goals for Vancouver each, while Paul Reinhart contributed 50 assists. Kirk McLean topped the squad with 20 wins, and Steve Weeks recorded a 2.98 goals against average, pacing regular goalies.

Bob McCammon coached the team. The 1988-89 Vancouver Canucks lost in the NHL division semi-finals.
