The Bruins led the league with 330 goals. Boston surrendered 204 goals. Phil Esposito scored 66 goals for the team, while Bobby Orr and John Bucyk tallied 30 or more also. Bobby Orr recorded 80 assists. Gerry Cheevers and Eddie Johnston apiece earned 27 wins in front of the net for the squad, and Gerry Cheevers registered a 2.50 goals against average, leading goaltenders with enough qualifying appearances.
Tom Johnson coached the team. The 1971-72 Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup.
