The Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League ended the 1996 season with a record of 13 wins and 5 losses for 26 points, finishing first in the CFL's West Division. The team compiled a postseason mark of 0-1.
The Stampeders moved the ball well, scoring 608 points, and the defensive squad yielded 365. Jeff Garcia triggered the aerial attack, slinging for 4,225 yards. Allen Pitts grabbed 86 receptions for 1,309 yards. Terry Vaughn and Dave Sapunjis contributed to the receiving game, too.
Kelvin Anderson carried the pigskin for a team-high 1,068 yards for Calgary.
The opportunistic defense manufactured 63 turnovers. Al Jordan seized 8 opponent throws. Rodney Harding topped pass rushers with 10 quarterback sacks, topping a defense credited with 46 sacks.
Wally Buono coached the team. The 1996 Calgary Stampeders lost in the Division Final.
