The defense proved to be a force, as the Stampeders paced the circuit with just 218 points allowed. Calgary scored 290 points. Jerry Keeling threw for 2,038 yards, and Jim Lindsey played quarterback, too. Herm Harrison led the receiving corps, grabbing 70 receptions for 980 yards.
Hugh McKinnis carried the ball for a team-high 910 yards, while Jesse Mims also buoyed the ground attack.
The opportunistic defense manufactured 65 turnovers. Frank Andruski intercepted 7 opponent throws.
Jim Duncan coached the team. The 1971 Calgary Stampeders won the Grey Cup.
