The Seattle Supersonics of the National Basketball Association ended the 1988-89 season with a record of 47 wins and 35 losses, finishing third in the NBA's Pacific Division of the Western Conference. The team compiled a postseason mark of 3-5.

The Supersonics racked up 9,196 points and conceded 8,958. Dale Ellis scored a team-high 2,253 points for Seattle, while Xavier McDaniel netted 18 or more per game also. Michael Cage contributed 765 rebounds. Nate McMillan dished out 696 assists for the squad.

On the defensive side of the ball, Nate McMillan added 156 steals, and Alton Lister blocked 180 shots.

Bernie Bickerstaff, Tom Newell and Bob Kloppenburg coached the team. The 1988-89 Seattle Supersonics lost in the conference semifinals.
