The Red Sox paced the league with 792 runs, spearheaded by 109 home runs. Boston surrendered 594 runs. Ted Williams walloped 38 home runs for the team, while Bobby Doerr and Rudy York added 20 or more also. Ted Williams drove in 123 runs and topped batters with significant playing time by hitting .342. Dave Ferriss recorded 25 wins on the mound for the team, and Mickey Harris and Tex Hughson as well contributed 15 or more victories as well Tex Hughson recorded a 2.75 ERA, best among regularly-used pitchers.

Joe Cronin coached the team. The 1946 Boston Red Sox won the League Championship Series.
