The Cardinals plated 887 runs and allowed 771 runs. Jim Edmonds walloped 42 home runs for St. Louis, while Edgar Renteria, Ray Lankford, Fernando Tatis, Mark McGwire, Craig Paquette and J. D. Drew each swatted 20 or more as well. Jim Edmonds drove in 108 runs. Fernando Vina led all regular hitters by connecting at a .300 clip. Darryl Kile topped the squad with 20 wins, and Pat Hentgen and Garrett Stephenson added 15 or more wins also Rick Ankiel recorded a 3.50 ERA, leading regularly-used pitchers.

Tony LaRussa coached the team. The 2000 St. Louis Cardinals qualified for the playoffs as a division winner.
